About Me
Welcome to my eportfolio! My name is Margret Shumake. I am a Senior at the University of Florida and I am studying Classics in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. I am the product of an international marriage between a Filipino and an America, so I feel that travel has been ingrained into my DNA. I have been fortunate enough to have traveled multiple times in my life with the most recent being to Greece. Besides traveling, I enjoy reading, painting, hiking, and swimming. Feel free to explore my eportfolio and contact me for any additional information!
Travel Timeline
Summer 2003- Philippines
The first international experience I remember is taking a trip to the Philippines to visit my Mom's family in Cebu. This was my first taste of travel and independence. I spent my time there going to the local Filipino school and exploring the provinces of Cebu.
Summer 2010- Japan
The Summer before I started high school, I was allowed to accompany family friends who were half Japanese, half Chinese. During our visit, we trained with the Japanese National Swim Team and explored Tokyo via the extensive tram system.
Summer 2018- Greece
The Summer before my Senior year of college, I studied abroad in Greece. While there, I worked at an archaeological dig site called Despotiko and a museum on Paros while I took a class with CYA. I also explored the islands as well as Athens and Delphi on the mainland.
